AmWire’s Duraflex THHN/THWN UL83 rating conforms to US grade standards

The safety of our Customers is our first priority. That is why at American Wire & Cable, we ensure that our products are compliant to specifications of local and international standards. This includes the Duraflex THHN/THWN building wires, a locally manufactured product by American Wire & Cable Co., Inc. that bears the highest UL83 Rating in its category, and is at par with the premium standards required in the US and other countries. UL83 is the definitive Standard for Safety for Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires and Cables.

THHN or “Thermoplastic Heat-resistant Nylon-coated” is suitable for the type of service where the conductor temperature does not exceed 90°C in dry location and 75°C in wet location and THWN or “Thermoplastic Heat and Moisture-Resistant Nylon Coated” is suitable for the type of service where the conductor temperature does not exceed 75°C in dry and wet locations and is a general purpose wiring for power, lighting and control commonly used for connecting branch circuits and appliances, while (-2) indicates it is rated 90 degrees for both wet and dry locations. For this type of product, there are specific requirements on insulation material and temperature rating. Both THHN and THWN wires are used in a variety of installations.

THHN/THWN-2 is rated 90 degrees for both wet and dry locations. The previous generation THHN is only rated at a maximum of 75 degrees for wet locations, and 90 degrees for dry locations.

In the Philippines, THHN/THWN and THWN-2 are both widely used. Currently, the specified standard being sold in the United States is the THHN/THWN-2, the most advanced in its category that complies with higher specifications on a 90°C operating temperature on both wet and dry locations. Unless specified otherwise, American Wire offers customers THHN/THWN which is designed to deliver superior performance and safety levels to Filipino homes and other infrastructures.

The Duraflex THHN/THWN with UL 83 certification for circuit voltage up to 600V is tested to service up to 90°C & 75°C temperature in both dry and wet locations, has lead-free PVC insulation and a tough, smooth nylon jacket that is used to protect the wire against abrasion.

A product that lasts longer than ordinary wires in the market, Duraflex THHN/THWN is stringently manufactured to offer Quality, Resilience, Correct Length and Correct Weight, so we can come through with our commitment to give peace of mind and help our customers protect their family and business.
